Not much to write about today. I woke up many times during the night in my tent. The temperature dropped during the night when the rain moved through Talkeetna. I was sleeping in my summer bag and using my winter bag as a pillow, so I was able to swap the bags and warm up nicely. The vents in my tent were open wide to let the breeze come through, but that ended up letting a little rain in and I awoke many time during the night fighting the damp cold weather. So finally after waking up many times, the clock matched the sunlight around 5:30. I was tired of trying to get comfortable so I got up and started packing.
Kevin and I still had our fingers crossed for our morning flight around Mckinley and landing on a glacier.  We went to the airport to get a weather check and they told us to come back in an hour. So we ran into town and grabbed a muffin to go, for a quick and light breakfast. We didn't want to use the air sickness bags. We arrived back at the airport and tried again. They said no... then they said yes, we will fly in ten minutes. So we got excited and locked everything up and prepped the cameras.  As we sat and waited for the pilot to gather his things, a call came through on the radio and said that nothing was visible on the mountain. We were not flying today. We decided to get on the road and possibly try again later in the next few days.
We hit the road and caught up with the others a few miles down the road when we stopped for gas. We drove for about two hours and made it to Anchorage around lunch time. We made a few stops at some motorcycle shops, and decided to grab a hotel instead of camping. This gave me a chance to dry things out. We all craved a nice bed and shower anyway.
I was starving and had a headache from my lack of caffeine and food, so I ran across the street to the Moose's Tooth. This place is very well known in town as the best pizza and beer selection. They had about 20 beers on tap. So I had one.
Quizno is back! I caught him looking up horse training in the Anchorage yellow pages.
