Today was another day for a solo exploration of the Anchorage area. Eric's parts came in but needed to be installed on the bike at the motorcycle shop. After waking up around 11:00 I decided to head north today and visit some of the small towns in the area. I was headed to a town called Palmer and on the way I saw a sign for a Musk Ox farm. I had heard about these large funny looking creatures and decided to check it out. I had nothing but time, so I signed on for the mini tour of the farm. These guys are mostly used for their fur and they typically roam around the colder tundra region in northern Alaska. Native Americans in the area use the fur to weave scarves, hats, and other winter clothing items. The big guy in the last photos weighs about 1000 pounds and lunged at me when I got close to take the picture. Scared me a little. I don't think he liked my moto outfit and shiny camera.
After the farm tour I headed up the mountain to Hatcher Pass, another suggestion from Mark. The road was a nice tight twisty road that climbed about 4000 feet up to a little old miner village and ski lodge.  I hadn't had lunch yet so I ordered the 18 dollar salmon quesadilla. They can charge what they want being the only restaurant on the mountain. It was the best quesadilla I ever had by the way. After the nice meal, I began my return trip back to Anchorage passing through another town named Wasilla.
Not sure if we will be leaving town tomorrow, Eric might be waiting for a couple more parts. The rest of the group made it to Prudhoe Bay, and should be meeting us near Mt. Mckinley in a couple of days. Not sure where we will go after that.
